Volunteer Information
Becoming a volunteer with OAS is a wonderful opportunity to meet exciting challenges, learn and improve new skiing skills, contribute to your community, and have fun! Volunteers assist with many functions at OAS and are an integral part of our organization. By working together, we all help to create a positive and fun learning environment that allows the skiers who use our services to excel.
OAS volunteers are the core and heart of the organization. It takes on average, two volunteers to assist each instructor.. Volunteers receive compensation in the form of vouchers for 1 all-mountain lift ticket for every day of volunteer work after 3 days of their time. All skiing volunteers must be at least 18 years old and will be required to attend a training clinic in order to gain knowledge and skills in assisting adaptive skiers.
OAS needs both skiing and non-skiing volunteers as follows:
Adaptive Skiing Instructors:
Persons who are either certified adaptive skiing instructors or have similar experiences who can instruct adaptive skiers. These volunteers should have strong skiing skills and abilities.
Skiing Assistants:
Persons who are intermediate level skiers or above and either assist the instructors or work directly with participants to provide a “ski buddy” to more experienced skiers.
Off-hill Volunteers:
Volunteers who may or may not ski but can provide administrative assistance and such skills as marketing, fund-raising and program administration.
